Love is…saving some hot water for the next person's shower…
Love is…slipping between freshly laundered sheets after an especially long day…
Love is…cooking two extra slices of bacon to share with your wife every morning…
Love is…a box of Spree candy from your daughter…
Love is…Chick-Fil-A sweet tea from your other daughter…
Love is…showing up on time…
Love is…saying ‘God bless you’…
Love is…a single perfect daffodil picked from your own front yard…
Love is…emptying the dishwasher without being asked…
Love is…preparing chicken parmesan at home instead of going out to a crowded restaurant…
Love is…repeatedly showing your daughter how to double crochet so she can create a soft blanket for a child with special needs…
Love is…Kitty Girl winding through your legs as you walk onto the porch…
Love is…asking your significant other about their day and actually listening to their response…
Love is…having permission to change directions midstream in the pursuit of happiness, no matter how much it costs…
Love is…a surprise box of Girl Scout trefoil cookies sitting on your desk…
Love is…a lone candlestick in the window, lighting the way home…
My thoughts about what symbolizes love are a lot different than they used to be. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a special dinner out, pretty cut flowers on occasion and/or a box of chocolates on Valentines Day…but I’ve come to realize real love isn’t about gifts given on special occasions and holidays… Real love is woven throughout the tapestry of our everyday lives, demonstrated in the common acts and routine decisions we make daily. Those expressions of love are what make life worth living…
Wishing you many blessings…tg
