One man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries and another is in jail after an east Charlotte shooting Sunday afternoon.
Police have not released the name of the suspect or the victim in the shooting, which happened just before 3 p.m. on Lawyers Road near Albemarle Road.
Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call there. When they arrived, they saw the victim, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Carolinas Medical Center, though police have not released an update on his condition.
After talking to witnesses, officers located the suspect on Glenmont Drive, around the corner from the scene of the shooting. The suspect was arrested without incident.
Crime scene technicians were called to the scene to collect evidence. Members of the vice and gang units were also called in. Police encourage anyone with information on the shooting to call 704-432-TIPS to speak with a detective. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
