A 23-year-old man was shot to death in northwest Charlotte on Sunday afternoon.

Police released few details about the fatal shooting of Keith R. Houston. Investigators have not released the name of a suspect in the killing.

Officers in the Metro Division were called at 12:29 p.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 3000 block of Tuckaseegee Road. That’s about two miles northwest of uptown Charlotte.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Houston, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators were canvassing the area on Sunday afternoon.

Crime-scene technicians had also been called in to collect evidence.

They blocked a section of Tuckaseegee Road near Coker Road.

Investigators had clustered around a fire hydrant at the intersection of Coker and Tuckaseegee Roads.

Houston’s ripped clothes could be seen on the sidewalk, where first responders tried to save his life.

Police encourage anyone with information about the crime to call homicide detectives at 704-432-TIPS. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Tipsters are eligible for a reward up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. Cleve R. Wootson Jr.
