A new section of Ridge Road is scheduled to open Wednesday morning, marking another step in the work to finish the final section of Interstate 485 in north Charlotte.
The N.C. Department of Transportation says the new section of the road, stretching from south of Beard Road to Mallard Creek Road, will open at 9 a.m., weather permitting. Motorists can expect delays while crews tie in the new segments to existing roadways, DOT officials say.
As part of the project, the existing section of Ridge Road in that area will be closed. In addition, a new traffic signal will be activated at the new Ridge Road-Mallard Creek Road intersection, with a signal at the old intersection removed.
