3 in hospital after multi-car wreck

Three people were in the hospital Tuesday following a multi-car wreck at Johnston Road and Interstate 485 that left at least one person trapped.

The wrecked happened just before 2 p.m. Firefighters were able to rescue the passengers within 12 minutes. Medic took one person to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte with potentially life-threatening injuries.

One other person went to CMC with non-life-threatening injuries; a third was taken to Presbyterian Hospital in Mathews, also with non-life-threatening injuries.
