Cabarrus County

County fair honored: The Cabarrus County Fair turned 60 last year and, for its efforts, the International Association of Fairs and Expositions awarded the fair 21 international awards.

The awards include seven Agricultural Awards, two Competitive Exhibit Awards and 11 Hall of Honor Communication Awards.

The North Carolina Association of Agricultural Fairs awarded the fair the Commissioner of Agriculture Award and the Media Award.


Home Instead Senior Care: Nominate outstanding senior volunteers at SalutetoSeniorService.com by March 31. Online voting will be April 15-30. Home Instead Inc. will donate $500 to each state winners’ favorite charities, and their stories will be posted on the Salute to Senior Service Wall of Fame.


Equestrian Exchange: The Cabarrus Arena & Event Center, 4751 U.S. 49 N., Concord, will host an Equestrian Exchange Tack Consignment Sale Feb. 21-24 to buy and sell horse items and tack. Details: www.equestrianexchange.com.


Concord

Live green: The cities of Concord and Kannapolis, along with Cabarrus County, will host the fourth annual Viva Verde Earth Fest at North Cabarrus Park, 760 Orphanage Road, Concord.

Heart health: In observance of National Heart Health Month, Concord Housing will host author Nellie Anita Wosu. The New Jersey native, and founder and CEO of Encouraging Word Ministries International, will speak about her fight against heart disease.
