HAMLET -- A Richmond County man has been charged with murder in the death of an Anson County man, Hamlet police say.
Deshawn Kelly, 19, is jailed without bond in the case, authorities say. The victim was identified as Jermaine Lindsey, of Morven.
Police say the shooting was reported shortly before 4 p.m. Monday outside an apartment building in the 500 block of Henderson Street. Lindsey was airlifted to a hospital in Chapel Hill but died Tuesday.
Police in Hamlet had information that Kelly could be found in Cheraw, S.C., and police in Cheraw took him into custody Monday evening. There is no word as to a motive for the shooting.
