TAYLORSVILLE -- Three people have been charged in Alexander County in connection with an armed robbery earlier this week in Taylorsville, police say.
The robbery took place about 5 p.m. Sunday at the Peoples Drugs store, in the 200 block of Highway 16 South, according to Taylorsville police.
Authorities say a man wearing a mask entered the store and demanded Oxycontin pills at gunpoint. The man then fled with the drugs.
Detectives, using surveillance video, linked the getaway car to a resident of Taylorsville. They visited that resident’s home Monday and said they found clothing that was used in the robbery. Police say they suspect the three tried to sell the Oxycontin pills.
Two men were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon -- Joseph Milam, 35, and Darryl Cupp, 28. The third suspect, Hailey Lu-Joy Stephens, 23, was charged with accessory after the fact. Police allege Milam was the man who robbed the store, and Cupp drove the getaway vehicle.
