Hundreds of members of the Venus Chapter of the national service organization Daughters of Penelope and their guests brightened Carmel Country Club during the groups annual Queen of Hearts High Tea Luncheon and Fashion Show on Saturday. They all looked lovely, and some even added more flair by donning hats that ranged from elegant to whimsical.
The benefit for breast cancer research at the Levine Cancer Institute included a talk by its president, Dr. Derek Raghavan, and his colleague, surgical oncologist Dr. Terry Sarantou. Sharing her own dramatic story was committee member Eleni Bingham, who was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after last years event.
During the afternoon, one incredible door prize after another was given out and at the end, there was raffle for several grand prizes including a cashmere wrap from Douglas Furs.
A highlight is the groups members modeling clothes from Coplons at Phillips Place. They strutted down the runway in fabulous designer outfits that ranged from sporty to glamorous eveningwear.
