The winner: I have kept a family notebook since my children were young. On the cover I insert a page with all information a babysitter might need; emergency contacts, neighbors, doctors, school contacts. Inside, I have pocket folders for each child, which includes all medical information on vaccinations, copy of birth certificate, medical insurance. This has been extremely helpful over the years when filling out camp registrations, then driver’s education and on to college. Christie Asimos, Charlotte

No more onion skin mess

The mesh bags that onions come in allow the onion skins to get all over the place. I cut the bottom 6 inches off a paper grocery bag to hold the onions, still in their mesh bag. I can see the onions and the skins are kept from making a mess. Carl Cease, Newton

Use that wax to the max

When my candles run low and the wick is at its end, I save the wax to make a candle melt. First, you put the candle jar in a pot of boiling water to melt the wax. Then pour the melted wax into cupcake wrappers in a cupcake tin. When the wax hardens, peel the wrapper off and you have a nice scent pod. I place this in my candle warmer and it melts into a lovely scent. That way, no wax goes to waste. Kimberly Heffington, Mooresville
