Friday morning traffic update

Wet streets usually mean trouble for Charlotte-area motorists, but only a handful of collisions are being reported at 8:20 a.m. Friday.

The biggest problems are in east Charlotte -- on Albemarle Road, Harris Boulevard, and East Independence Boulevard.

Here is the 8:20 a.m. summary:

I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.

I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from N.C. 73 down to I-485.

I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Carowinds Boulevard to Woodlawn Road.

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from Mooresville down to I-485.

Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 10-15 mph from Village Lake Drive to Idlewild Road. A disabled vehicle was reported about 8:15 a.m. near Idlewild Road.

Albemarle Road at I-485 ... Collision reported at 8:15 a.m.; moderate delays.

Harris Boulevard at Idlewild Road North ... Collision reported at 8 a.m.; moderate delays on both roads.
