Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man overnight outside a west Charlotte nightclub.

The shooting was reported shortly before 2:30 a.m. at Club 935, in the 900 block of South Summit Avenue. That is inside the triangle created by West Morehead Street, Freedom Drive, and Interstate 77.

Police say they were called after a report of shots being fired in the parking lot. Officers arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken by Medic to Carolinas Medical Center, where he died.

He was identified by police as Paul Anthony Fyffe Jr.

Detectives covered the neighborhood during the night, looking for witnesses. Homicide detectives were joined by officers from several other units, including Mecklenburg County ABC.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call detectives at 704-432-TIPS. Information also can be left with Crime Stoppers, 704-334-1600.
