The Robeson County History Museum in Lumberton hosts Journey Stories, a traveling Smithsonian exhibit, through April 6. Journey Stories focuses on how ancestors came to America, with a specific look at how advancements in transportation affected people. Hours: 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday-Thursday, 2-4 p.m. Sunday. Free festival of music by Bach
The third biennial Bach Festival of Charleston will be held the weekend of March 1-3 in the sanctuary of First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting St., Charleston. Concerts on March 1 (The Limbs of Our Jesus, vocal chamber concert) and March 2 (organ concerti by candlelight) start at 7:30 p.m.; The March 3 choral event (including The Magnificat) starts at 4 p.m. Details: www.bachfestivalofcharleston.org.

Cornbread is hot commodity at festival
The first-ever S.C. Cornbread Festival an all-Saturday event will be staged in Columbia on March 2 at Main Street and Newman Avenue, between downtown and Earlewood Park. There of course will be a cook-off, in both professional and nonprofessional categories, with the judging to take place at 2 p.m. Bi-Lo is sponsoring a Cornbread Lane, where you can taste six different kinds of stellar cornbread and get the recipes for each from noon to 2 p.m. for $4. Other events include a car and motorcycle show (noon-5 p.m.), a beauty pageant and live entertainment The 8 p.m. headliners are the famous Chairmen of the Board. Details: www.sccornbreadfestival.com.
MARCH 16 Edisto Island, S.C.
Food and crafts in Lowcountry
Edisto Island, in the S.C. Lowcountry, gets ready for spring with several events. The Edisto Eats Food Festival is March 16 at McConkeys Jungle Shack. The Arts and Crafts Fair will begin at 11a.m., the annual chef competition is at 2 p.m., followed by a community oyster roast at 4:30 p.m. Live music will start at noon. March 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., local artisans will display their creations at the Art Guilds semi-annual Arts and Crafts Show and Sale, held at the Edistonian General Store, 406 S.C. 174 on Edisto Island.
