North Carolina’s legislative leaders say talks with the Carolina Panthers are “ongoing and productive.”
The team is asking the state for $62 million toward upgrading Bank of America Stadium and for legislators to approve a hike in Charlotte’s prepared food and beverage tax.
In a joint statement, House Speaker Thom Tillis and Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger, both Republicans, the Panthers “not only produce thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in economic impact, but are a source of pride for the Charlotte region and the entire state.
“We remain steadfast and committed to keeping the Panthers in North Carolina and will continue to work together to achieve that goal,” they said.
