Mooresville Graded School District

“Digital Conversion program: The program, which aims to put laptop computers in the hands of every student and other electronic aids in each classroom, has picked up another honor. June Atkinson, the superintendent of the N.C. Department of Public Instruction, presented Superintendent Mark Edwards with a banner recognizing the school system as a N.C. Innovator In Digital Learning during a Feb. 13 visit to South Elementary.

Atkinson and other state officials met with South Elementary Principal Debbie Marsh for a briefing on the school’s digital conversion program, then toured some of the school’s third-grade classrooms to see the project in action.

Kindergarten registration: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 8 at Mooresville ARP Church at the corner of Magnolia Street and Carpenter Avenue in Mooresville. Children who turn age 5 on or before Aug. 31 can register. The parents or guardians of the incoming kindergarteners are required to bring the child’s birth certificate, immunization records, Social Security card and proof of residence within the Mooresville Graded School District. Accepted documents showing such proof of residency are utility bills, a lease or rental agreement, or similar documents. For information, call 704-658-2530.

Lake Norman High

PTSA Tech Upgrade Campaign: The school’s Parent-Teacher-Student Organization has launched a fundraising campaign to upgrade equipment in the school’s technology department. Details online at http://iss.schoolwires.com//site/Default.aspx?PageID=41421.

Soles 4 Souls: Campaign to collect new or gently-used shoes through March 22. Collection box is at the main office.

Victory Lake fundraiser: Victory Lane Indoor Karting in Charlotte (2330 Tipton Drive) is giving a portion of all ticket sales to the school during the month of February. Information: Visit www.victorylanekarting.com.

Mooresville High

Parent nights: 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28 for parents of Advanced Placement students in the school auditorium.

Registration nights: 4:30-7 p.m. March 18 for rising 12th-graders, 4:30-7 p.m. March 19 for rising 10th- and 11th-graders, and 4:30-7 p.m. March 20 for incoming ninth-graders. All sessions will be held at the school’s Magnolia Campus.

Brawley Middle

Night Of The Arts: 5:30-8:30 p.m. March 7 at the school.

LNHS Visit: 9 a.m. March 8. The school’s eighth-grade students will visit Lake Norman High for an orientation session for the 2013-2014 school year.

Mooresville Middle

Cheerleading Clinic tryouts: April 23-26 at the school’s gymnasium. The clinic will be held 5-7 p.m. April 23-25, with tryouts 3 p.m. April 26. Seventh- and eighth-grade squads will be selected. A completed physical examination form is required. Information: email kelligreene@mgsd.k12.nc.us.

Father-Daughter Dance: 7-9 p.m. March 1 at the school.

Rocky River Elementary

Shepherd Elementary

Woodland Heights Elementary

Kindergarten registration: April 12 at the school. Open to all families with children who will be age 5 on or before Aug. 31. Advance registration forms are available online, and need to be returned to the school along with the Check Sheet for Proof of Residence and Transportation form by March 29.

Pine Lake Prep
