Fire destroys Seven Devils home

SEVEN DEVILS -- Fire officials are working to determine what caused a blaze that destroyed a vacation home early Sunday in the resort town of Seven Devils in the North Carolina mountains.

The fire was reported about 6 a.m. at the home on Buckeye Lane in Avery County, near the Watauga County line. That is east of Banner Elk.

Firefighters found flames coming through the walls and roof when they arrived, authorities say. Crews from the Seven Devils, Foscoe, Linville and Newland fire departments battled the blaze. Nobody was home at the time, and authorities report no injuries.
