When I was choosing most of my vendors, I relied heavily on websites like Weddingwire and the Knot for reviews. Most of the time I would take these reviews, from women I’ve never met, very seriously. If one of them said as much as a “they were okay”, I immediately scratched them off my potentials list.

As ridiculous as it sounds, word of mouth (or computer screen) can really make or break a vendors reputation. That being said, here are several VERY positive experiences I’ve had with some VERY awesome vendors in our area (they were so good – they didn’t even pay me to do this ;-)

Photography

Nathan Abplanalp: He and his wife are probably the cutest, sweetest people ever. Nathan shot our before and after photos so I’ve had the privilege of working with him twice. He’s got a very laid back, casual way of shooting which made me feel comfortable and confident that he was getting some great shots. Check him out here

Crystal Stokes: Had the pleasure of working with her for a styled shoot. It’s quite amazing to watch her work. You can tell her creative thinking it just full-blown, full speed ahead while she’s shooting. She moves quickly and gets TONS of photos done all the while being super sweet and easy to get along with. Check her out here

Makeup

Erin Ashley: I want to put Erin in my pocket and take her with me wherever I go. I thought my “before” shoot makeup was pretty… wait until you see the after. She is just phenomenal – I can’t say enough about how fantastic her work is. She is also very easy to get a long with (and pretty darn funny). She works with you to make sure your look is everything you dreamed of. She’s also got an amazing blog with tons of tips. Check her out here

Hair

Swooz: Swooz is one cool chick! She had the patience to sit and do my crazy hair not only once, but twice! Swooz takes her time and gets it right; she wants every piece of hair perfect for your big day. She’s crafty, loves thinking outside of the box, and is just plain ole lovely to work with!
