ROCK HILL A Rock Hill woman is accused of stealing 48 pieces of jewelry from the Belk store at the Rock Hill Galleria.

Police say the 49-year-old woman came into the store Friday night with a pillow case and purse. As she walked through the store, she removed price tags from several jewelry items and then placed the jewelry into the pillow case, which was hidden under her jacket.

When she tried to leave, a loss prevention agent stopped her and recovered more than $1,700 in merchandise. The woman was arrested and charged with shoplifting.

The woman told police she has "multiple physical and mental disorders," the report states. She also told police that the arrest had just "ruined her whole life."
