Broken line spills sewage into Lake Norman

More Information

A Sunday night sewage spill dumped 120 gallons into Lake Norman, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department said Monday.

The broken sewer pipe served 18532 Torrence Chapel Estates Circle in Cornelius, CMUD said. It estimated that 120 gallons of the 241 gallons that spilled reached the lake.

A crew got to the spill within 30 minutes, repaired the pipe and cleaned the area, the department said. No dead fish were observed as a result of the spill.
