Three Charlotte men have been connected to three armed robberies over a two-day period this week, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say.
The trio was arrested after an alleged robbery attempt Monday evening in south Charlotte.
Police say a man walking down Scaleybark Road about 7:30 p.m. Monday was attacked from behind by two men who had just gotten out of a car. The victim said the men threw him to the ground and kicked him. He said one of the attackers pointed a handgun at him and demanded money.
The victim told police the two attackers apparently became frightened by passing cars, ran to the nearby vehicle, and left.
Police had a description of the vehicle and said they spotted it a short time later. The victim identified two men in the car as the attackers. Three men inside the vehicle were taken into custody, and police say they linked the trio to a pair of robberies Sunday afternoon and the Monday evening case.
Charged with attempted robbery were Vincent Lee Price, 18; Jarnell Ladarius-Mariano Ervin, 18; and Yahdan Taigee Wheeler, 20. Police say additional charges are pending in the case.
