The east hourly parking deck at Charlotte Douglas International Airport will permanently close March 1 and be demolished a week later, airport officials said.
Crews are currently wrapping up demolition of the west hourly deck. Both decks are being removed to make room for a new hourly deck and rental car facility. That $120 million facility will have 7,000 parking spaces spread among seven levels.
Officials expect the new deck to open next November. Demolition of the east parking deck will be completed in about a month.
During the renovations, drivers picking up passengers are asked to use the Cell Phone lot off Rental Car Road. They may also park in the daily decks or long-term lots and take a shuttle bus to the terminal.
