One elementary school in northern Mecklenburg County got a name Tuesday while another got a new principal.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board approved Grand Oak Elementary as the name for a new school on Huntersvilles Stumptown Road. Grand Oak will open in August, relieving crowding at Torrence Creek Elementary.
Also Tuesday, Rachel Ann Williams was named principal of J.V. Washam Elementary in Cornelius. She is currently an assistant principal at Nathaniel Alexander Elementary. Ann Doss Helms
