FORT MILL A Rock Hill man with a suspended driver’s license led police on a brief chase through Fort Mill’s Baxter Village before he was arrested Tuesday afternoon.
Officers with the York County Sheriff’s Office’s highway enforcement team tried to stop a white 2011 Jaguar following too closely behind another car on S.C. 160, according to Sheriff’s Office documents.
The driver, 32-year-old Kwasi Karreem Barber, tried to elude officers by continuing to drive through parking lots in Baxter Village, a report states. He drove in the wrong direction in the Chick-fil-A parking lot, where he was arrested.
Deputies realized that Barber’s driver’s license was suspended, the report states. They also found a small amount of marijuana in the driver’s side floorboard of the car.
Barber was charged with failure to stop for a blue light, driving under suspension and following too closely. He was held at the York County Detention Center Wednesday morning on a $2,890 bond.
