Be a star with school breakfast
To help increase participation in the School Breakfast Program, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will recognize National School Breakfast Week from March 4-8. The 2013 theme, Be a Star with School Breakfast, highlights how eating a balanced breakfast at school can help students shine like their favorite stars in the movies, on the field, and on television.
Cafeterias will celebrate school breakfast with special menus and decorations, activities, and school breakfast related brainteasers to help students warm up their brains before they head to class. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Child Nutrition Services will serve a special Breakfast for Lunch menu on March 6 in all K-8 schools.
Every school day, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools breakfast program serves 100% juice, a lean protein, filling grains, and 1 percent or skim milk. Schools also serve TruMoo Chocolate Skim Milk, which contains no high-fructose corn syrup, no hormones and no antibiotics.
