YORK A 60-year-old York man was arrested by the York County Sheriff's Office SWAT team after officials responded to a domestic violence complaint and learned that the man threatened to barricade himself inside the house.

Dieter Karl Schaftner is in custody and charged with criminal domestic violence, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

Deputies were called to Schaftner's house at 324 Carolina Downs in York around 8:20 a.m. in reference to a domestic violence complaint, said Deputy Kim Morehouse with the York County Sheriff's Office.

When police learned that Schaftner might be armed and had threatened to barricade himself inside his house, the Sheriff's Office SWAT team was activated.

Rock Hill Police assisted in the investigation.

He was taken into custody by 10:50 p.m., Morehouse said.
