TIAA-CREF hosted students from John M. Morehead STEM Academy 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Feb. 13 for a day of job shadowing and career advice.
The students spent time shadowing employees representing various jobs such as asset management, information technology, marketing, retirement and individual financial services, risk management, advocacy and oversight.The program is part of TIAA-CREF’s partnership with UNC Charlotte to provide educational support to more than 4,700 students and 500 faculty members for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Governor’s Village schools. Besides the Feb. 13 job shadowing, students met with UNC Charlotte student Renia Bates, founder and president of Students Advancing Vigorously for Education, about how to choose a major.
