A collision in Charlotte’s uptown and a broken water main on a heavily used highway in Cabarrus County have been the big traffic stories Friday.

The crash happened about 9:20 a.m. on South Tryon Street at East Morehead Street, at the southern edge of the uptown area. A van and a car collided at the intersection, and the car veered into the front of a nearby building.

The woman driving the car was taken by Medic to the hospital.

Meanwhile, motorists who use U.S. 29 in Cabarrus County are dealing with a lane closure. A water main ruptured on the southbound side of U.S. 29, also known as Concord Parkway, near Pitt School Road.

The N.C. Department of Transportation says southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane until about 3 p.m. Friday.
