Winners from the 2013 Regional N.C. Science & Engineering Fair held Feb. 23 at UNCC advance to the state event March 15-16 at Meredith College.
The regional’s two International Science and Engineering winners were Barry Smith, of Phillip O. Berry, with a project called “A 1-2 Punch: An Assessment of the Successive Introduction of cannibalistically-induced Tetrahymena vorax and Bacillus subtilis to the Extracellular Matrix of Oral and Environmental Biofilms” and Andrew Hopkins, also of Berry, with “The Bisphenol Blowfly Blitz: An Assessment of the Plastic Monomer Bisphenol-A on the Metamorphic Activity in Sarcophaga Bullata – A Forensics Study.”
