Olympic (27-0) vs. Hough (23-5), N.C. 4A Western regional basketball semifinal: Olympic has never won a regional game. Hough has never been to a regional. So someone is making history Thursday. The Huskies will try for a very rare double – to beat West Charlotte and Olympic in consecutive games. Tipoff: 7 p.m. Thursday at Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center

Statesville (23-3) vs. Harding (16-10), N.C. 3A Western regional basketball semifinal: Statesville upset Northeast Guilford to reach the regionals behind 27 points from Breon Borders. Harding is in the regionals for the first time. Tipoff: 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center

Hunter Huss (24-3) vs. Ashbrook (21-8), N.C. 3A Western regional basketball semifinal: This could be one of the 10 biggest games in Gaston County history. The county’s two most storied programs meeting this late in the playoffs should bring out the best in both teams. Tipoff: 7 p.m. Wednesday at Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center.

North Mecklenburg girls (26-3) vs. Porter Ridge (25-3), N.C. 4A Western Regional semifinal: Porter Ridge has won 19 straight games, and the Vikings are in the regionals for the first time since 2008. Tipoff: 7 p.m. Friday at Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center

Ardrey Kell baseball at Weddington: Ardrey Kell is a 4A power and an annual threat to win a state title. Weddington is nationally ranked and the reigning N.C. 3A state champ. First pitch: 7 p.m. Monday at Weddington.
