Police make 21 arrests in uptown during CIAA

By Elisabeth Arriero

Charlotte Mecklenburg police made 21 adult arrests in uptown Charlotte during the CIAA Tournament this weekend, down from 31 last year.

A breakdown of the arrests includes four that were alcohol-related, one that was drug-related, two for larceny and three for trespassing. There were also six arrests for fighting and two for strong-armed robberies.

Despite the large number of visitors to uptown, police reported no major incidents in the center city related to the CIAA event or the CMPD’s other twelve police divisions, they said.

CMPD partnered with Charlotte Fire Department, MEDIC, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies throughout the weekend.
