Georgia State announced Monday that former Carolina Panthers receiver Keary Colbert will be its wide receivers coach.

Colbert, a six-year NFL veteran, played four years with Carolina and still holds the franchise rookie records for receptions (47), receiving yards (754) and touchdowns (5).

In his four years with the Panthers he played in 55 games (42 starts) and grabbed 109 passes for 1,424 yards and seven touchdowns. He last played in the league in 2011 with Kansas City.

He had previously coached at Southern California as an assistant tight ends coach in 2010.

Dallas: The Cowboys are putting the franchise tag on defensive end Anthony Spencer for the second straight year. He’s coming off the most productive season of his career, posting 95 tackles and finishing second on the Cowboys with 11 sacks.

The team also released safety Gerald Sensabaugh, a former North Carolina player, cornerback Vince Agnew and linebacker Brashton Satele.

Indianapolis: Jeff Saturday will retire with the Colts.

Team officials say Saturday, a former North Carolina player, will make the announcement Thursday at the Colts complex.

Saturday spent his first 13 seasons with the Colts before signing with Green Bay as a free agent last year.

Kansas City: The Chiefs retained three significant free agents, signing punter Dustin Colquitt to a five-year deal, placing the franchise tag on left tackle Branden Albert and reportedly agreeing to a long-term contract with wide receiver Dwayne Bowe.

Miami: The Dolphins designated defensive tackle Randy Starks as their franchise player. Starks will be guaranteed $8.45 million this season if he signs the franchise tender and plays this season under that designation, a big raise from the $3.72 million he earned in 2012.

Tennessee: The Titans are not using their franchise tag, a move letting tight end Jared Cook and kicker Rob Bironas be among their pending free agents to hit the market.

N.Y. Jets: General manager John Idzik told Jets season-ticket holders that doctors say cornerback Darrelle Revis is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation from a torn ligament in his left knee.

Pittsburgh: Cornerback William Gay is heading back to the Steelers. Gay, 28, who agreed to a three-year deal, spent his first five seasons in Pittsburgh before signing with the Arizona Cardinals last spring.
