YORK The York County Council on Monday approved giving retired Lt. Mike Baker his service weapon a Glock 22 pistol which he used for 18 years during his time at the York County Sheriffs Office.
Baker retired in March 2012 after 25 years with the sheriffs office. He was the sheriffs first public information officer, spent five years as a narcotics detective and was the offices first Crime Stoppers coordinator. He also was one of the countys first fulltime K-9 officers.
It was a great honor for me to serve York County at the sheriffs office, Baker said before the meeting.
Baker now is a writer, photographer and an active volunteer on arts councils.
