A student needed hospital treatment Tuesday morning after he was struck by a vehicle in southwest Charlotte, authorities say.

The incident took place about 7 a.m. in the 5700 block of Nations Ford Road, near Lone Pine Lane. That is in front of the Cedar Knoll Apartments.

The victim was a student at Kennedy Charter School, according to neighbors. He was taken by Medic to Carolinas Medical Center. Authorities say the victim is expected to survive his injuries.
