For just a regular old weekend in between CIAA and St. Patrick’s Day, you’d think there wouldn’t be much going on. But Charlotte nightlife never takes a weekend off, even when we lose an hour on a Saturday night.

Friday

2-Year Anniversary Party at Prohibition (200 N. Tryon St.): Prohibition (the era) ended 80 years ago, but the uptown bar has only been open since 2011. In honor of the occasion, beer, shots, and well drinks are all $2, plus it is giving away two free bar tabs for two years. 4 p.m.-2 a.m. 704-358-4244.

4-Year Anniversary Party at Strike City (210 E. Trade St.): Strike City thanks its patrons for their business with music from Simplified and Mike Paris of O.A.R. Party starts at 6 p.m. Free. 704-716-9300.

Saturday

DJ Africa at Cosmos Uptown (300 N. College St.): The DJ to the stars (including Gloria Estefan and Pitbull) will spin records as you spin your body around on the dance floor. Doors open at 10 p.m. $20 cover, but ladies get a $10 discount. 704-968-4923.

The Red Pump Project’s Cupcakes and Condoms event at Interior Motives (2425 South Blvd.): It’s a girls’ night out and a sweet way – desserts will be served – to commemorate National Women HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Free. 6-8 p.m. 704-261-5290.

Moving Poets Revival Party & Fundraiser at Studio 1212 (1212 E. 10th St.): A night of art including music, dance, live painting, spoken word and a fire performance. There also will be a wine-tasting, courtesy of Common Market, and a silent auction. 7 p.m. $25 donation at the door. 704-607-1410.

Sunday

Disco Brunch at Soul Gastrolounge (1500-B Central Ave.): A monthly Sunday Funday brunch party featuring DJ Scott Weaver and Bethann Phetamine’s camp-tastic floor show. Noon-3 p.m. 704-348-1848.
