Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are searching for suspects who shot a 20-year-old woman while she was sitting in her car in her driveway.

The shooting happened around 10:20 p.m. Thursday in a southeast Charlotte neighborhood off Monroe Road.

The victim was sitting in her car with another 25-year-old woman in front of a residence in the 2440 block of Knickerbocker Drive when a dark-colored sedan drove by slowly.

Someone inside the sedan fired shots at the car and the house, striking the victim at least once in the back. She was taken by Medic to Carolinas Medical Center but is expected to survive.

Three women, ages 31, 28 and 21, were in the house at the time of the shooting but were not injured. All of the women except for the victim were listed on a police report as being under the influence of drugs.

The victim’s car, 2011 Red Honda Civic, sustained $1,500 worth of damage according to a police report.

No arrests have been announced on the case.
