Sunshine and above-average temperatures are expected this weekend in the Charlotte region, bringing the string of nasty-weather weekends to an end.
Forecasters say high pressure will produce mostly clear skies and mild conditions through Sunday, with temperatures climbing into the low to mid 60s Saturday and into the middle 60s Sunday.
It is the start of a mild trend that meteorologists say should continue for at least seven to 10 days.
Charlotte got another taste of winter early Friday, when temperatures tumbled to an unofficial low of 23 degrees. Readings were in the mid-teens in parts of the mountains, and lows were near 20 degrees to the north of Charlotte.
After another chilly night, with Saturday morning lows in the upper 20s, temperatures will climb Saturday.
Forecasters say the fair weather will last until Monday night, when the next storm system is predicted to approach the region.
