No injuries in 2 Charlotte house fires

No injuries were reported in a pair of house fires that broke out during the dinner hour Thursday in Charlotte.

The first blaze was reported about 6:20 p.m. in the 2200 block of Edison Street. That is in the Druid Hills South community of north Charlotte, between North Graham Street and Statesville Avenue.

Firefighters found flames and smoke coming from the house when they arrived. It took a crew of 27 firefighters about 20 minutes to subdue a blaze that started in the kitchen.

A female resident was displaced.

The other fire was reported about 7 p.m. in the 8100 block of Weeping Fig Lane, in northeast Charlotte between Robinson Church and Harrisburg roads.

Crews found flames and smoke coming from the house. Two residents and a dog were displaced in that blaze.

The American Red Cross provided support for those left seeking shelter after the fires.
