SUV carrying mother, 2 children flips uptown

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said a mother and her two children were not seriously injured after their SUV flipped Friday during a wreck.

The accident happened around noon on North Caldwell Street near the intersection with East Trade.

Emergency crews briefly blocked part of Caldwell Street to clear the accident. The street was reopened an hour later.

An officer on scene told WCNC-TV, the Observer’s news partner, that the car seats the two children were in saved their lives.

There’s no word yet on what caused the accident, and the names and ages of those involved weren’t immediately available.
