Woman pleads guilty to stealing drowned child’s belongings

A woman charged with stealing items that belonged to a drowned baby pleaded guilty in Rowan County court Friday.

Jessica Williams, 26, was arrested along last September for breaking into the home of Jessica Keply and stealing family keepsakes from the bedroom of her 1-year-old son, Parker Munn, who had recently drowned in an ornamental pond .

Williams’ boyfriend Bobby Milam was also arrested.

Police said they found the family’s stolen jewelry and other household items inside Williams' home. They also discovered Munn’s birth certificate and bible in a trash pile in Williams’ yard.

Following the proceedings, Keply’s family gathered outside the courthouse and expressed displeasure in the six to 17 month sentence Williams received.

It included probation, with six months already served.

Milam is awaiting trial.
