Counting on a big weekend from …
Erick Green. Duh, the Hokies don’t have too many options beyond Green, who is on track to be the first ACC player since 1957 to lead the country in scoring. Green was really good (29 points, eight assists) in the Hokies’ 90-86 overtime loss in Raleigh on Feb. 16.
Number to know
325 Virginia Tech’s national ranking in scoring defense, giving up 74.6 points per game. There are only 20 teams in Division I who give up more points per game.
Dancing shoes or flip flops?
Flip flops. The Hokies started the season with promise, beating Iowa and Oklahoma State out of the league, but their deficiencies on defense and really in something as fundamental as passing (they rank 317th in assists) have relegated them to a one-man show. Joseph Giglio
