ACC tournament capsule: Miami

No. 1 seed

24-6 overall

15-3 ACC

vs. Boston College-Georgia Tech winner, noon Friday, WBTV, ESPN2

Starting lineup

G Shane Larkin 13.7 ppg, 4.4 apg

G Durand Scott 12.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg

G Trey McKinney Jones 9.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg

F Kenny Kadji 13.6 ppg, 6.9 rpg

F Julian Gamble 6.6 ppg, 4.9 rpg

Counting on a big weekend from …

Everyone. The key to Miami’s regular-season title was balance. The Canes got scoring from different sources and places. They have won a lot of games with brute strength, but from here on out, wing McKinney Jones – and how he shoots from 3-point range – will determine their postseason success.

Number to know

7 The Hurricanes became just the seventh team in ACC history to start 13-0 in conference play. Only three of the previous six won the ACC tournament.

Dancing shoes or flip flops?

Dancing shoes. The 2-3 finish to the regular season is something of a red flag, especially the home loss to Georgia Tech, but the Canes have lived on the edge all season and survived. The obvious comparison with this team is Jim Larranaga’s 2006 team at George Mason, but really, Miami is built just like last season’s Florida State team. And the Seminoles won the ACC title.
