Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are on the scene of more than a dozen wrecks across the city Thursday as the morning commute winds to an end.
At least of the wrecks involves a possible injury. It was reported near the intersection of Johnston Road and John J Delaney Drive.
Other collisions in the area included ones at Albemarle Road and East W.T. Harris Boulevard and on Beatties Ford Road at Montana Drive. See a list of active CMPD traffic incidents at http://maps.cmpd.org/trafficaccidents/
Congestion is still being reported at some of the usual trouble-spots across the region, including on southbound I-85 from Cabarrus County and on Interstate 485 in southern Mecklenburg.
And in Gaston County, authorities expected to soon reopen a portion of Old York Road that’s been closed for more than two hours because of an early-morning fire at a Gastonia strip mall. No injuries have been reported, but Old York was closed near Grier Street while firefighters responded to the scene. Drivers can take US 321 as an alternate route.
Stay tuned for more updates as the morning goes on.
