Forecast: Sunny, but cool Thursday

You’ll want to keep your coat nearby Thursday as temperatures across the Charlotte region are only expected to climb to the low 50s.

But a warm-up is in store for the weekend, with highs in the 60s on Friday and near 71 on Saturday.

The National Weather Service has forecast sunny skies for Thursday with wind speeds of 6 to 9 mph. Officials say breezy conditions and low humidity values across the Piedmont and western counties could lead to an increased fire danger through the evening, according to a hazardous weather outlook posted Thursday.

Some rain could begin to move into the area on Saturday evening. The weather service is calling for a 40 percent chance of rain through Monday evening.
