McCrory events in Charlotte, Hickory canceled

Gov. Pat McCrory’s office has announced that his planned appearances in Charlotte and Hickory on Thursday have been canceled because the governor is sick.

McCrory had been scheduled to speak during a noon luncheon at the Southeast Venture Conference being held at the Ritz-Carlton in uptown Charlotte. Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker was tapped to fill in for McCrory, but the governor’s office said late this morning that Decker no longer will appear.

Also canceled was an afternoon appearance in Hickory, where McCrory was set to make another stop on his “Main Street” tour across the state. A new date for the visit was not immediately announced. John Frank of The (Raleigh) News & Observer contributed.
