Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire early Thursday at the Double Tree hotel off Yorkmont Road.
The fire was reported a little after 7 a.m. in the 2600 block of Yorkmont, which is near Tyvola Road in southwest Charlotte. Firefighters say an exhaust fan on the first floor of the hotel caught fire, according to WCNC-TV, the Observer’s news partner.
A Charlotte Fire spokesman said heavy smoke was showing at the hotel, but that firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 36 minutes.
WCNC reported that the 143 guests at the hotel were temporarily evacuated but allowed to return after about an hour.
No injuries were reported.
