CMPD officer injured in wreck on Independence Boulevard

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer and a second person were injured Wednesday after a wreck in east Charlotte.

Medic described both of the injuries as non-life-threatening.

The wreck occurred around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of East Independence Boulevard and North Sharon Amity Road. It involved the officer’s patrol car and a truck.

Officials have not said what led to the collision, but the front end of the truck suffered heavy damage.
