Fatal wreck investigated in Cleveland County

A Lincolnton woman was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle wreck in Cleveland County.

Kimberly Watson, 34, was traveling north on South Post Road (N.C. 180) when she went off the side of the road and struck a utility pole and tree, said Trooper J. E. Deaton of the N.C. Highway Patrol. The car overturned in the wreck.

The wreck occurred on South Post near Cleveland Avenue in Patterson Springs.

Watson was the only person in the car, and was wearing her seat belt, Deaton said.

He said troopers are still investigating the cause of the wreck, but at this point do not believe there was any cross speed involved.

Deaton said investigators are trying to find anyone who may have witnessed the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Highway Patrol at 704-480-5409.
