Mooresville man accused of raping girl, 13

A Mooresville man is in jail Friday accused of raping a 13-year-old girl.

The crime was reported to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office earlier this week by a mother who said her daughter told her she had been sexually assaulted.

Statements gathered in the investigation led detectives to seek three felony warrants against Jason Brock Powers on the charge of rape of a child by an adult offender.

Powers, 43, was arrested Thursday at a construction site.

He currently is being held in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.
