A public forum on Monday night will bring together people to discuss Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s challenges in delivering crisis mental health care.

Our panelists will include Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Chief Rodney Monroe, MeckLINK Director Phil Endress, Mecklenburg County Commission Chairwoman Pat Cotham, Carolinas HealthCare System’s Chief Medical Officer Roger Ray and Mebane Rash with the N.C. Center for Public Policy Research.

We’ll also have experts from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Urban Ministry Center and Moore Place, Novant Health, Mecklenburg County government, W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury and multiple agencies, including the Mental Health Association of Central Carolinas and the National Alliance on Mental Illness-Charlotte. Other dignitaries will include CMC-Randolph President Laura Thomas, Chief District Judge Lisa Bell, Davidson Mayor John Woods, CMPD Deputy Chief Eddie Levins and Ellis Fields, executive director of Mental Health Alliance of Central Carolinas.

The forum, at the UNCC Center City Building in uptown, is the second in a series presented by The Charlotte Observer and PNC Bank.
