Deriece Parks, Olympic: 19 points, including 5-of-6 free throws late in the fourth quarter, in Olympics 56-53 win over Raleigh Broughton in the N.C. 4A state final. Park was named championship game MVP.
C.J. Jackson, Olympic: 17 points, including 4-for-4 from the free throw line, in the final seconds of the state final Saturday. Also had four rebounds and two assists.
Shelton Mitchell, Cuthbertson: Wake Forest recruit had 22 points, three rebounds in 56-53 loss to Kinston in the N.C. 2A state finals.
Abrea Harris, Harding girls: Led the Rams to a second straight N.C. 3A championship with a 56-52 win over Chapel Hill and earned her second straight championship game MVP award. Harris had 11 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.
Breon Borders, Statesville: Duke football recruit had 26 points in the N.C. 3A state final. Statesville lost 73-70 to Oxford Webb and 6-foot-9 UNC recruit Isaiah Hicks, who had 34 points and a championship finals record 30 rebounds.
